Dunham Baseball House League

The Dunham Baseball Organization (DBBO) House League is a community-based, volunteer-run program that has promoted baseball instruction, competition, and sportsmanship for children ages 4 to 18 since 1968.Based at the Chicago Park District's Dunham Park on the Northwest Side, DBBO offers a fun, inclusive, and developmental environment for players of all skill levels.

Ages

The House League is open to boys and girls ages 4 to 18, with divisions structured as follows:

  • T-Ball: Ages 4–5 (and 6-year-olds with no previous experience)
  • PeeWee: Most 6-year-olds and some 7-year-olds with no previous experience
  • Rookie: Ages 7–8
  • Minors: Ages 9–10
  • Majors: Ages 11–12
  • Seniors: Ages 13–14
  • Liberty: Players finishing their freshman or sophomore year of high school
  • Liberty Pro: Players finishing their junior or senior year of high school


Age divisions are determined by the player's age as of May 1st.

When

The baseball season runs from April through July. Registration typically opens in January, and divisions can fill quickly, so early registration is encouraged.

Games

Each team plays a regular season schedule, with the number of games varying by division.The season culminates in playoff games and championship events.Special events like Opening Day ceremonies and Picnic Day add to the community atmosphere.

Practices

Practices may be held at Dunham Park, but we also have a partnership with Jefferson, Austin/Foster, and Wilson Parks where coaches are able to hold practices as needed.

All games a are held at Dunham Park, located at 4638 N Melvina Ave, Chicago, IL 60630.The majority of house league games are played on diamonds 1, 2, 5, and 6.

Uniforms

The registration fee includes a team shirt, socks, and a team hat. Players are responsible for providing their own pants, rubber cleats (metal spikes are prohibited for divisions 12U and under), protective cup, mitt, bat, and helmet.

Extra Costs

Beyond the registration fee, families should anticipate additional expenses such as personal equipment (pants, cleats, glove, bat, helmet) and optional participation in fundraising activities like the popcorn Fundraiser, which supports league improvements.

When does registration for the house league open?

Registration for players opens in January, prior to the season starting. It generally is open through mid/late-February.


Are the opportunities for off season training?

Every Winter, in January and February, we offer free clinics to players in tball through Majors focusing on fundamentals such as throwing, fielding, and batting. These clinics are open to players of all ages and skill levels.


What is the comittment for level for the House League?

The House League is designed to be flexible and accommodating.Teams typically have one to two practices per week and one to two games per week, depending on the division.

2026 Season

Registration for the 2026 season will open to the public in mid-January.
